The Stevens Creek Striders marathon-training program will be geared towards getting ready for the California International Marathon in Sacramento, on December the 5th 2004. This is a 3-month training program that is modeled on Hale Higdon’s Training schedules (Choosing The Right Marathon Schedule).

Other marathons around the same time you may choose to target instead include: Portland Marathon (10/6) Lake Tahoe Marathon (10/6) La Salle Bank Chicago marathon (10/10) Marine Corps Marathon (10/31), and the Silicon Valley Marathon (10/31).

We will meet every Saturday morning (8:30am) at various locations to do our long run, which will start out at 10 miles and progress to 20 miles in distance, as the training program continues. There will also be a Track workout on Tuesday’s and a Medium to long run on Thursday’s at Rancho San Antonio Park; both of these running activities will begin at 6:00pm. If you are interested in joining you can reach me by sending an email to jstannard67@yahoo.com.

There will be an origination meeting at Gumba’s Restaurant at 7:00pm On August the 5th, 2004

The first official long run will start on August the 7th, At Stevens Creek Canyon Park, in conjunction with the Striders regular Saturday run.
