Upcoming Striders events:

Big L Awards. Annually these awards are presented at the Holiday Party. Initially the club takes nominations from the members for the awards of: Strider of the Year, Best Volunteer, Most Improved & Best Achievement over the course of 2008. Nominations will be open soon.

Thursday, 27th November. Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot Relays. Once again Michael Florence will be organizing these friendly races. De Anza College Track, 8.30am. Burn some calories before the excesses of the rest of the day. Just turn up on the day. 2007 photos here.

Saturday, 6th December. Striders Holiday Party. 6pm. St Edward's Church, San Jose. Details and sign up sheet will be published soon. 2007 photos here.

Sunday, 14th December. 9am. West Valley Track Club Christmas Relays. We hope to enter several teams of 4 runners into this annual event at Lake Merced, San Francisco. Sign up at our regular Saturday morning meet or email Bill Jones at billemj at sbcglobal.net (anti spam measure: replace the " at " by "@").

Western States Entry

Striders have a 'slot' in the Western States Endurance Run in return for our contribution of providing the aid station at Last Chance. Normally we have a ballot of qualified club members at our Holiday Party in December.

This year, however, we've been requested by Western States to provide the name of our runner by September 15. And so, we decided to hold the ballot for our entry at the Clambake Run and Picnic on August 24. Dennis Connor was the lucky winner and we wish him well in his preparations for the race next June in the Sierras.

Tuesday Torture

6.15am sharp at Freemont Older. Meet in the parking lot at the top of Prospect Road, Cupertino. 6.5mile/1 hour trail run on Seven Springs, Coyote Ridge and Toyon Trails. Beautiful sunrise run.

Friday Fun

6.30am sharp at Freemont Older. See Tuesday Torture above for details.

Saturday Striders
